The rule we don’t break

Every stay featured on Canvas & Cabin is a place we’ve personally booked, visited, and slept in overnight. Not a press trip photo set. Not a listing an owner submitted. Not a place we researched from a distance. If we haven’t slept there, it doesn’t get a review page — full stop.

“We’d rather publish twelve real reviews a year than a hundred recycled listings.”

How we handle hosted stays

As this grows, some stays will naturally be hosted or gifted by the property rather than paid for out of pocket. When that happens, we say so clearly at the top of the review — the same way we’ve disclosed our own paid stay on every review published so far. You’ll never have to guess which is which.

What we never do

  • We never accept payment in exchange for a positive review.
  • We never use a property’s press photos in place of our own.
  • We never publish a review for a stay we haven’t slept in ourselves.
  • We never hide that a stay was hosted, gifted, or complimentary.
